Donation to Sands – £2,875

Sands supports families who have experienced baby loss, including miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, termination for medical reasons (TFMR), stillbirth, neonatal death, and SIDS. The charity offers emotional support through phone services, online forums, and in‑person groups run by trained volunteers with lived experience.

Sands also works to reduce stigma around baby loss, funds research into its causes, and provides training for healthcare professionals such as midwives.

This charity is especially meaningful to the rally team, as Clerk of the Course Chris Richmond‑Hand and his wife and family have received support from Sands during an incredibly difficult time. Their experience highlights the vital role the charity plays in helping families navigate grief with compassion, understanding, and specialist guidance.

Locally, fundraising efforts by Hayley Vallance, Sioned Twose, and Astra Shipton helped organise a major event in 2025 to raise money for a double hospital‑grade bed for a local bereavement suite, allowing families to stay together more comfortably during such a traumatic time.
